Did you ever see those cute dog photographs where they are alert, ears up, and head cocked sideways? You know, those really cute pictures that make you want to take the dog home. Well one of my clients is a photographer, and for the past three weeks, we–he and my hovering– have been taking doggie photos. I thought it would be simple. The dog comes out. The dog sits. The dog is alert. The photographer snaps the photo, and bingo! a perfect shot.
That scenario only happens in one’s
dreams. First, the dogs are extremely excited and run around all over the place. Next, they are cautious about who we are–friend or foe? Then they won’t sit still when we entice them with treats onto the paper seamless. Then, just when the dog is perfect, something happens, and the moment is gone.
Oh, yes,
you also have to be somewhat of a contortionist, because you are constantly trying to focus on a moving dog. So you are on your knees–doggie height, and tilting backward.
So after these past three weeks, I have great respect for doggie photographers. You people deserve much more than you get paid!

Yeah, I agree. My wife snaps dog pics. It helps if the dog is trained, but even so it is not easy. A great shot comes and goes in a fraction of a second. She’s always looking for the next great picture though. For every 30 40 pictures taken their ight be one good memorible shot.
